Wayne Lucas, President, CUPE NL presents $14,000 to Lindsey Saunders of the Daffodil Place Campaign.
(May 25, 2009, St. John’s) Representatives from CUPE today presented a $14,000 gift to Daffodil Place. The commitment was made during their recent provincial CUPE convention in Grand Falls-Windsor.
Wayne Lucas, President, CUPE Newfoundland said, “The outpouring of support for this project is a tribute to the hard working women and men of this union, and the commitment they have to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.” He added, “It was a very proud moment for me and all CUPE members to be able to support cancer patients and their families in this way.”
CUPE Newfoundland and Labrador proudly represents over 6,000 working women and men in the province, with approximately 60 different employer groups. The union represents workers in health care, education, public housing, provincial libraries, municipalities, university, child care, recycling, social services and much more.
