“In 2007, we were told by some that you couldn’t raise $7 million in Newfoundland and Labrador in three years,” said Capital Campaign Chair, John Steele. “Well those people were right; we did it in two.” Steele added, “The success of this campaign has been unprecedented; and it would not have been possible without the overwhelming support we have received from the community and the strong corporate citizenship from businesses throughout the province.”
The Daffodil Place Opening Ceremonies will be taking place on June 12th, 2009. These ceremonies will be followed by a public open house. The facility will begin providing accommodations to cancer patients shortly thereafter. Steele said, “This will be an exciting time and an excellent opportunity for the Canadian Cancer Society to showcase the facilities that will provide cancer patients with comfort and support.”
Steele went on to express his gratitude to those who donated financially, and to those that gave their time and talent to ensuring the success of the campaign. Steele said, “Some people got on board by hosting events to benefit Daffodil Place, other gave us large amounts of money. But every dime and every gift in every form made this achievement possible.”
Thanks to the generosity of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador Daffodil Place will support the needs of cancer patients and their families for years to come.
