(St. John’s, NL) Today Signature Salon launched a 2009 calendar featuring different kinds of models - role models. The calendar features 12 extraordinary women from the Avalon Peninsula who were nominated by friends and family and all proceeds from the 1500 calendars will be donated to Daffodil Place. The women saw their images and stories in print for the first time at Signature Salon this morning.Paula Adam, owner of The Signature Salon, said Daffodil Place seemed to be right choice as the beneficiary of this year’s calendar because cancer issues are becoming more common in the daily operations of the salon. “Everyone is at arm’s length from cancer. We encounter it every day and wanted to show our support for those who experience it” said Adam. “The women in this calendar are role models. Some of them have had first hand experience with cancer.” Everyone at Signature Salon was involved in the makeover calendar project. Adam added, “I am so proud of my team for their hard work and thankful to everyone who made this calendar possible.”
The Chairman of the Daffodil Place Campaign, John Steele, highlighted how support from small businesses is furthering campaign efforts. He said, “We are receiving a lot of help from local businesses who have customers making trips to St. John’s for treatment.” Steele went on to commend the efforts of the Signature Salon team for the support they are giving to the campaign and the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The 2009 Signature Salon Calendar will be made available for sale on at 9:00am on Saturday, October 18, at the Signature Salon in suite 105 of Summerville Condominiums, located at 392 Elizabeth Avenue in St. John’s. Calendars are $20.00 each.
A project of the Canadian Cancer Society, Daffodil Place is scheduled to open in early 2009. The 24-suite facility will provide accommodations for those who must travel to St. John's for cancer treatment and will offer the comforts of home that will help patients on the road to recovery.
